How the Libertarians aren't libertarian about war

The guys from the Libertarian Party, including their presidential candidate, and those who follow their line of non-interventionist nightwatchman government fail to be libertarians in quite an important way.

It is quite OK, it is commendable, and it is required from a libertarian, to claim: I won't compel anyone into participating, directly or indirectly, in a war against Saddam Hussein, Ho Chi Minh, Fidel Castro, Kim Il Sung, Adolf Hitler, or any other tyrant, and even less against other people.

But it is quite another thing, and completely anti-libertarian, to claim: I will claim and enforce a monopoly upon the means of making war, and will forcefully prevent anyone from participating, directly or indirectly, in a war against Saddam Hussein, Ho Chi Minh, Fidel Castro, Kim Il Sung, Adolf Hitler, or any other people.

I consider myself at war with, say, Ho Chi Minh. You don't. Fine. But now you propose that the monopoly war machine be mobilized against me, so that I won't be able to wage war against that mass killing enslaver. In effect, you're waging war against me and other liberty fighters. How is that a defense of peace? And in that war you're actually waging, you're siding with the bloodiest dictators. How is that a defense of liberty?

The LP doesn't dare hold the anarcho-capitalist position of privatizing the military, and instead promotes a monopoly military policy that posits as a dogma a priori obliviousness of reality. As long as the LP will hold this absurd position or present it as an enhancement as compared to what exists today, all the people who love liberty and are ready to fight for it will consider the LP as unlibertarian a party as the other ones -- and a more pathetically stupid one to boot.
